Overview

The Crane Operator safely operates an overhead crane to move and stage steel materials throughout the warehouse. This position is responsible for loading and unloading trucks, supplying processing equipment, organizing materials, and supporting an efficient warehouse workflow.

Responsibilities

  • Operate an overhead crane safely and efficiently.
  • Complete daily equipment inspections and safety checks.
  • Load and unload trucks, trailers, saws, and processing equipment.
  • Move, organize, and stage materials in designated locations.
  • Maintain control of the crane and suspended load during all movements.
  • Coordinate material movement with supervisors and warehouse personnel.
  • Complete required paperwork accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE.
  • Participate in safety meetings and continuous improvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Reliable attendance and effective communication skills.
  • Previous overhead crane, warehouse, manufacturing, steel distribution, or material-handling experience is preferred.

Physical and Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, reach, and operate equipment controls throughout the workday.
  • Ability to regularly lift or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work around moving equipment, suspended loads, noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Required use of designated personal protective equipment.

Compensation and Benefits

The base pay range for this position is $21.50 to $23.00 per hour.

Actual starting pay will be based on experience, qualifications, skills, internal equity, and other job-related considerations.
