Overview

The Production Leadman oversees the safe receipt, storage, retrieval, and timely delivery of materials, products, and services to Intsel Steel customers in their territory. This role serves as a backup for the Production Supervisor and provides vital support to the Operations team, frequently assisting in warehouse operations as a Material Handler.

Responsibilities

  • Always follow Triple-S safe methods of work and immediately advise the supervisor of any unsafe conditions.
  • Safely and properly move steel to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, delivery vehicles, by hand, forklift, overhead crane, or other equipment.
  • Assist the Production Supervisor in assigning warehouse personnel to appropriate work areas throughout the working day to meet deadlines for all processes.
  • Utilize technology to maintain daily production planning and deliver updates to supervisors or operations manager.
  • Ensure general cleanliness of the warehouse and work areas. Warehouse and yard organization is a priority for this role.
  • Assist with safety duties and participate in continuous improvement and monthly safety meetings.
  • Conducts daily walkthroughs of area/facility and reports any damages or concerns to supervisor.
  • Serve as a backup to the operations department to maintain efficiency and productivity.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 40 pounds for distances of up to 25 feet to heights of 5 feet.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

 

  • Minimum 2-3 years of prior warehouse experience and familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a distribution center.
  • Familiarity with industrial services or distribution operations preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

  • Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly organized individual with a commitment to consistent attention to detail.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to assume additional responsibilities and accommodate customer requests.
  • Ability to work independently, often under pressure/situations within a team environment.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment to perform a variety of tasks.
  • Ability to build business relationships and collaborate effectively.
