We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales Manager to lead our Inside and Outside sales teams and drive revenue growth. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in the Steel Industry and demonstrate exceptional leadership skills. This role requires a strategic thinker who can manage accounts effectively while providing outstanding customer service while facilitating our company culture. As the Sales Manager for Intsel Steel you will be responsible for developing sales strategies, managing inside and outside sales efforts, and ensuring the team exceeds its sales targets.

 

The role is responsible for the development and performance of all Structural Steel sales activities in the assigned market including overseeing the sales team, distributing, and controlling prospects, monitoring sales pipelines, implementing individual and team goals, retaining morale, hiring and firing personnel, and communicating with other departments. Staffs and directs a sales team and provides leadership towards the achievement of maximum profitability and growth in line with company vision and values. Establishes specific plans and strategies to maximize the company’s market share at its existing customer base and expand the customer base in the marketing area.

Salary Range; $80,000.00-$100,000.00

Responsibilities

  • Develops a business plan and sales strategy for the market that ensures attainment of company sales goals and profitability.
  • Initiates and coordinates development of action plans to penetrate new markets.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed.
  • Provides timely, accurate, competitive pricing on all products through formalized pricing policies, while striving to maintain maximum profit margin. Factors in the policy should include size of order, freight cost, processing, customer potential, etc.
  • Cross pollinates with branch manager and purchasing manager on inventory assortments and supplier negotiations. Partakes in action plans on inactive inventory and shares responsibility of overall inventory appropriateness based on market conditions.
  • Expected to manage his/her own accounts.

  • Develops specific action plans on idle/inactive inventory through special incentive plans and/or customer promotions.
  • Ensures sales order entries within company ERP are consistent within regulated polices to ensure best operational performance and accurate accounting. ·

  • Regularly dialogues with counterparts at other Triple-S Steel facilities to ensure consistent pricing occurs where customers overlap. ·

  • Represent company at trade association meetings to promote products. 

  • Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes and ensures that they are communicated and implemented within the team

  • Recruits, tests, and hires Sales Representatives based on criteria agreed upon by senior management. 

  • Responsible for the performance and development of the Sales Representatives. · Routinely reassigns underperforming accounts after Sales Representatives exhaust all opportunities. ·

  • Prepares action plans by individuals as well as by team for effective search of sales leads and prospects. 

  • Conducts one-on-one review with all Sales Representatives to build more effective communications, to understand training and development needs, and to provide insight for the improvement of Sales Representatives sales and activity performance.

  • Maintains accurate records of all pricings, sales, and activity reports submitted by Sales Representatives.

  • Create a personnel plan and goals for ISR’s and OSR’s, to include expectations for Fiscal 2025 for each.

  • Increase number of both ISR’s and OSR’s.

  • Re-structure Territories to enable maximum touches and involvement. 

  • Continue to expand decking sales in the West. 

  • Dramatic shift towards training and development across all sales platforms.

People Development and Leadership

  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; employee development; Planning, assigning and directing work; Appraising performance; Employee recognition; Corrective actions; Addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Develops skills through effective management coaching.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

  • Carbon structural, plate, hot rolled, tubing product/producer knowledge preferred
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of Customer Relationship Management.
  • Strong understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements.
  • Proven leadership and ability to drive sales and sales teams.
  • Strong analytical & communication skills; written, oral and interpersonal.
  • Basic mathematics and computer skills (Microsoft Office Products)
  • Proven experience in steel sales or related fields, with a strong understanding of steel products and the industry.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Strong customer service orientation with excellent communication skills.
  • Experience in account management, demonstrating the ability to maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Proficiency in negotiating contracts and closing sales effectively.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets in previous roles is highly desirable.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or relevant field is required.
  • 10+ years of related experience
  • Management experience of diverse teams required.
