ABOUT THE POSTION:

We are seeking a motivated Production Equipment Operator to join our business. This is a steel production equipment operator position responsible for properly reading and executing work orders to timely meet customer requirements.  This non-exempt (hourly) position typically reports directly to the Warehouse Supervisor or Manager and has no supervisory responsibilities. The position requires working in accordance with Triple-S Steel job requirements and Safe Methods of Work. Overtime hours may be required to meet our customers’ needs. Consist of loading and unloading our trucks and unloading freight by forklift.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all Triple-S Steel safety procedures and immediately report any unsafe conditions or incidents to a supervisor.
  • Relocate, load, unload, and stage steel materials—including plate, pipe, and other metal products—safely and efficiently, in accordance with company procedures and without damaging materials.
  • Safely operate a variety of equipment and tools, including but not limited to: tape measure, caliper, CNC burning table, band saw, shear, iron worker, track burner, haven tube cutter, forklift, and overhead crane.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required for all tasks.
  • Perform frequent material handling, including lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds for distances up to 20 feet and to heights of 5 feet.
  • Exert 25–50 pounds of force frequently, and 10–20 pounds constantly to move or position materials.
  • Navigate safely around a busy work environment with multiple moving parts, maintaining strong spatial awareness and orientation.
  • Maintain clear vision for both near and far distances to remain aware of work activities and surroundings.
  • Work in a variety of conditions, both indoors and outdoors, and in all types of weather (heat, cold, rain, wind, etc.) consistent with local climate.
  • Attend and actively participate in all required company meetings and safety briefings.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the team and facility operations.

Qualifications

  • Ability to correctly read and understand work orders and/or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
  • Ability to effectively use basic computer applications.
  • Demonstrate intermediate math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Ability to safely meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company.
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision; work alone and in a team environment.
  • Develop a good working knowledge of material and inventory control techniques and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain ongoing inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customer relations. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Use hands/fingers to handle, or feel and talk or hear
  • Employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms.
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
