Overview

ABOUT THE POSITION:

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to become a key member of our Corporate Branch. This is a newly created position, the ideal candidate will help us develop and carry out the vision for our Engineering Department, modernize our operations equipment, and help integrate legacy equipment and IIOT. The Mechanical Engineer will work with OEM’s to ensure equipment and machinery are designed to meet the needs of Triple-S Steel at all of our different facilities around the nation- travel will be required. The successful candidate will also play a part in project management and scheduling.

Responsibilities

  • Review designs and layouts of machines, instruments, controls.
  • Works with a design team to create design sketches, layouts, and plans.
  • Uses computer-assisted design (CAD) software to create preliminary and detailed drawings related to projects assigned to the Engineering group.
  • Produces specifications for equipment and choose components to be used in production.
  • Studies the specification and makes comparisons with similar designs.
  • Develops controlling and monitoring systems to be used in production environment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent mechanical and technical skills.
  • Proficient with computer-assisted design (CAD) software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering required; Masters degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to access and inspect all areas of machinery.
