Overview

We are seeking a motivated DOT Compliance specialist to become apart of our Corporate Branch. The DOT Compliance Specialist ensures compliance with Department of Transportation regulations for a fleet of vehicles, focusing on driver qualifications, safety protocols, and record-keeping, while also providing training and guidance to drivers. Will ensure that all drivers are well informed and aware of changes and updates in regulations/requirements as directed by corresponding agencies (such as FMCSA, DOT, PHMSA, OSHA). This position will also oversee conducting safety checks, monitoring driver logs, overseeing drug and alcohol testing, and staying updated on regulatory changes, all to maintain a safe and compliant operation

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Maintain & update all FMCSA and DOT compliance via: driver files, operating licenses, permits, MVR's, driver qualifications, physicals, medical cards, driver history, medical reports, certification of road tests, record of violations, driver's logs, alcohol and drug test notifications, safety performance past and present, etc.
  • Administer and manage random drug and alcohol testing programs, ensuring compliance with DOT regulations.
  • Maintain vehicle records, inspection reports, and maintenance documentation per DOT regulations and company policies.
  • Conduct regular audits of driver logs, qualification records, and other compliance-related documentation to identify potential issues and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Manage company driver Logs - enter logs, take corrective actions by training drivers on errors they are making on logs, audit fuel transactions, tolls, other time date stamp documents against logs.
  • Perform mock audits regularly to verify compliance
  • Managing internal and external compliance reporting, providing compliance advice and assistance, and conducting compliance investigations.
  • Responsible for all Federal, State and Local operational regulatory filings.
  • All discrepancies and or violations will be documented and addressed with direct reports in questions
  • Assist with driver training on the E-log
  • Responsible for driver training and skill assessment to include on-boarding training and orientation, remedial training, and maintaining compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations
  • Issue and maintain fleet fuel cards for company drivers and company owned\leased power units
  • Register titles and tags for company owned and leased equipment
  • Conduct the renewal and MCS-150 filing for the company every other year
  • Serve as an administrator for our fleet management software system and stay abreast of updates/changes, new features, releases, and training opportunities

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-4 year of experience in transportation compliance
  • Thorough understanding of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) regulations and compliance standards.
  • Expertise and extensive knowledge of DOT rules and regulations
  • Must be able to interact with all levels of management.
  • Deadline driven with excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently, often under pressure/situations within a team environment.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment to perform a variety of tasks.
  • Advanced computer skills with proficiency and working knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to define processes and procedures as well as initiate tasks related to job requirements.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to assess, coach, and mentor drivers
