Overview

We are seeking a motivated CAD drafter in the Richmond, VA area. The CAD drafter is responsible for understanding the layouts of steel designs and translating to machinery language for high volume production. The ideal candidate will have experience preparing detailed working diagrams, including dimensions, fastening methods and other engineering information. They will also ensure all work is done on time.

Responsibilities

  • Manipulates field measurements per customer and sales orders.
  • Develops detailed design drawings and specifications using computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment.
  • As required, walks the warehouse to verify dimensions and designs. Coordinates with and consults colleagues to design, layout, or detail components and systems and to resolve design or other problems.
  • Reviews and analyzes specifications, sketches, drawings, ideas, and related data to assess factors affecting component designs and the procedures and instructions to be followed.
  • Computes mathematical formulas to develop and design detailed specifications for components or machinery using computer-assisted equipment.
  • Allocates materials to provide the highest yield, utilizing remnants when available.
  • Develops an understanding of multiple CAD systems to program various sets of machinery.
  • Meets with the customer as needed to gather and clarify requirements.
  • Creates preliminary designs and presents them to the customer for approval or revision.
  • Follows all company policies, procedures, and safety rules.
  • Conducts oneself in a professional, ethical, and courteous manner as a representative of Triple-S.
  • Attends weekly production meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Associates degree in Drafting/Design or High school diploma, or general education degree (GED
  • Minimum of 1-2 years manufacturing background
  • Project managing skill
  • Microsoft Office 
  • Attention to detail
  • Must be able to work flexible hours and overtime
  • Problem solving and analytical skills
  • Must be dependable
  • Able to work under pressure
  • Team Player
  • Able to work overtime if necessary
  • General knowledge of 2D/CAD/Draft Sight
  • Work under time constraints.
