    We are seeking a motivated HR professional to join our growing HR department.  The HR & Training Specialist provides professional level duties related to Human Resources with an emphasis on creating & facilitating training programs for employees. Other responsibilities include the following functional areas: Employee Relations, Compliance, Performance Management, On-Boarding and Total Rewards.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL TASKS & DUTIES: 

    TRAINING

    • Assists with creation, development, and design of all training and development needs and offerings as they arise, including soft skills training.
    • Coordinates and implements instruction in an orderly and professional manner, adjusting presentation approach and curriculum according to audience learning styles and skill levels
    • Assists management with training needs analysis and evaluating and recommending training programs; prepares and presents recommendations
    • Prepares training guides, materials, and documentation; updates as necessary; may conduct review and/or testing for other training guides and/or online training
    • Evaluates and recommends new training programs, resources, and materials; evaluates the effectiveness of existing training programs and prepares and presents recommendations for changes or upgrades to existing programs

     

    GENERALIST DUTIES

    • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures; prepares and maintains employee handbook and policies and procedures manual.
    • Provides coaching to supervisors on employee relations issues and influence management as needed. Investigate and resolve non-complex, lower risk employee relations issues; escalating to appropriate manager as needed.
    • Creates a positive employee relations environment through effective communications, policies and practices.
    • Build and maintain strong, trust-based relationships with stakeholders at all levels of the business with the highest degree of integrity and discretion.
    • Provides support to all HR functions such as onboarding, benefits, compensation, and training. Uses policies and principles to coordinate HR related projects
    • Work together with employees, supervisors and managers to resolve employee relations issues
    • Supports the Talent Acquisition Manager (TAM) in the hiring process. This includes sourcing (internet, job fairs, newspapers, agencies etc.) interviewing, selection, diversity initiatives, background checks, drug testing and manpower planning.
    • FMLA/Disability administration/Worker’s Compensation administration
    • Handles employee relations counseling, outplacement counseling and exit interviewing.
    • Maintains company organization charts and the employee directory.
    • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of the department.
    • Maintains human resource information system records and compiles reports from ADP.
    • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
    • Completes annual I9 Audit and follow up with all work authorization documentation to ensure compliance.

    PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP:

    This Job has no supervisory responsibilities. 

    Qualifications

     

    • Bachelor’s Degree and 3+ years of recent, relevant experience providing Generalist level support to include broad training and development experience in delivering training to individuals and groups in a formal setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
    • SHRM Certification strongly preferred.
    • Bilingual in English/Spanish strongly preferred
    • Experience in Distribution environment preferred
    • Thorough knowledge of wide range of HR/legal standards & regulations, programs, processes, and tools in all areas ranging from recruitment, benefits, training, and payroll
    • Self-starting, results-oriented individual who is team oriented
    • Effective organization, time management, and verbal/written communication skills
    • Able to handle multiple projects and priorities as well as deal with ambiguity
    • Demonstrates a strong attention to detail
    • Advanced computer literacy, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
