  • Overview

    This position is responsible for execution of safety standards, achieving daily productivity goals while meeting quality requirements, performing routine maintenance and assisting with maintenance with non-routine maintenance. The Warehouse Operator will be responsible for the production process from initial stacking of the cut length plates to the safe conveyance of the stacked product to the packaging conveyors and the safe storage of the product in the warehouse.

    Responsibilities

    • Duties include but are not limited to:

      1. Daily/Shift Checklist Inspection of equipment
        1. Executing the daily production checklist to ensure the equipment is safe and ready for production activities.
          1. Cranes – Inspection Checklist complete
            1. Lifting devices – Specific Checklist complete
            2. Ropes
            3. Hooks
          2. Safety guards in place
            1. Coils properly stacked and chained per SOP
          3. Hand rails in place and no sign of damage
          4. Gates to motors and drives closed and secure
          5. Forklift Inspection(s) complete
        2. Checking hydraulic/lubrication systems –e.g. Sheet-lifters, conveyors
          1. Gear box lubricant level
          2. Automatic greasing systems
          3. Hydraulic fluid levels
        3. Work supplies checklist
          1. Dunnage bins are filled and ready for the day’s production.
          2. Inspection equipment such as micrometers, tape measures, etc. have current calibration stickers and are in working order.
        4. Production paperwork / coil line up and cut instructions are prepared and ready to begin production.
        5. End of shift reports and checklists are completed.
      2. The Warehouse Position is also responsible for the LOADING of out bound plate/sheet for shipment to customers.
        1. Includes Staging of loads
        2. Loading of trucks
          1. Follow all safety procedures and ensure Driver safety rules are being followed.
          2. Ensuring load is correct.
          3. Verifying loads via hand held scanners
          4. Ensuring load is stacked properly with proper dunnage as per the Load List.
          5. F.I.S.H forms and all other documents are correctly filled out
          6. Photos of loads and trucks are taken
        3. Placement of material in designated areas.
          1. Returning material to its assigned area
          2. Updating locations of material
          3.  
      3. The Stacker/Warehouse may be cross trained to perform the duties of the Stacker Operator.
      4.  
      5. The Stacker Operator will assist with maintenance of the equipment such as:
        1. Roll changes
        2. Blade changes
        3. Routine lubrication

      The Stacker Operator will also perform other duties as assigned. These duties will be within the scope of operator’s personal training and ability.

     

    Qualifications

    • Ability to correctly read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or material or equipment needs.
    • Ability to safely meet or exceed minimum productivity levels established by the Company.
    • Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities independent of direct supervision; work alone and in a team environment.
    • Ability to develop a good working knowledge of product and inventory control techniques and procedures.
    • Ability to maintain ongoing inter-department communications related to routing, safety, and customer relations.
    • Demonstrate basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
    • May be required to demonstrate strong customer relations skills.
